Breed Information

The beautiful Oberhasli is defined as a color breed.  This means that both does & bucks of the breed must be a red bay body color with black markings. The rich solid black color is also acceptable in does.  There can be a difference in the shade of red bay, but to be registered as an American or Purebred Oberhasli, they have to have the red tint to their brownish coat and the traditional black markings.

To learn more about Oberhasli, explore the breed by using the links under Breed Information to read about the history, breed standard, milking ability. We are currently developing a breed education program. As modules about each aspect of the breed become available, they will be added to the Breed Education page. Please check back regularly for updates.
